I hope that you have had a fantastic Mother’s Day Weekend, and I hope that you have spoiled your mothers with lots of flowers and hugs! We have a great week ahead with potential new local crops coming in such as variety squashes, pickles, and even peaches! Cross your fingers! I will know this coming week when we will begin to pick! Woop woop! I cannot wait! We had over 300 families come to co-op last week to share in juicy deliciousness, and I cannot wait to spend this coming week in the vibrant sun drinking freshly squeezed tangelo juice! Yum!
As we approach summer, more people are dedicated to looking and feeling their best. The sun is out, and it is time to be able to sit by the pool! Now, more than ever, people are looking at their health and their food choices. The simple topic of “choosing good food” may sound easy, but it is one of the most difficult actions for individuals to carry out. Interestingly, making good food choices goes way beyond the concept of simply deciding what to eat. Your food choices affect the rest of your life more than your other choices! Why? Because what you CHOOSE to put in your body affects how you think, feel, act, and perform on a daily basis! This is life-changing!
Lettuce talk a little bit about making choices. Does making simple choices come easily for you? If so, are you able to carry out the choices that you make as easily? Across the board, more individuals struggle with making wise food decisions than ANY OTHER CHOICE on the planet. There are restaurants on every corner, social gatherings to attend, and advertisements everywhere that appeal to all senses. People find it hard to resist just a few bites of “eye-candy.” Are we making good choices? If we were, our world would not be as sick and deprived as it is today.
Do not feel hopeless! There is a solution to this grave problem! While it may seem too easy to be true, it requires heart-filled discipline and passion!? You must make positive food choices! Think before placing food in mouth. What does this mean? It means that you must always weigh your options. What is most important to you? Your health must always be near the top of your list. If YOU cannot function, then the world will NOT be a better place!
Most of you already know that I am an extremely passionate advocate of eating a raw foods diet. I have eaten 100% organic, fresh, low-fat, organic, and RAW for almost 6 years, and it has changed every area of my life!!! While it may have been a learning process at first, it now comes more easily to me than breathing. Literally. However, many do not choose this path for themselves but simply desire healthier options. If you choose not to be raw, then the next step is to be high raw. If you choose to not be high raw, the next best thing is low-fat vegan or vegetarian with a high emphasis on vegetables and fruits. After that, choosing to be health conscious and eat organic becomes vital. There are many different beneficial GOOD health choices that you can make for yourself! Each choices is a step in the right direction to feeling like you BELONG in YOUR SKIN.
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The reason why eating raw is SO important is because this food is filled with life. When we eat foods filled with positivity, we shall also exude that amazing energy–it shifts us continuously over time to change the essence of our beings on a cellular level! When we eat good food, we FEEL good. Each choice brings about a consequence. Consequences do not have to be good or bad, but they are the aftermath of our actions. You eat fat, you GET FAT. You eat bad foods, you FEEL BADLY about your choices. You may notice that the more that you make POSITIVE food choices for yourself, the better you will feel about yourself. The more you will love yourself! Your reality and your perception of life will become more positive because that is what you have chosen for yourself. Similarly, you will seek out others who share this same love, and you will find joy in sharing this gift with them. We all need support teams!
When we internalize and surround ourselves with the positive, that is where we will live. We absorb not only food, but our choices and the communities with which we surround ourselves. When we surround ourselves with the negative or people who struggle, we find more of that in our lives. I CHOOSE TO LIVE RAWFULLY ORGANIC BECAUSE IT MAKES ME FEEL RAW-FULLY HAPPY! I also CHOOSE to surround myself with positive minded and big-hearted people like YOU because I WANT COLORFUL VIBRANCY TO BE MY REALITY! We create our own realities. This is a choice, and we hold more power than we know!
